What I really think??

I personally loved the idea of having a blog. It did not take up much of my time to complete it, and when i did put time into it i actually enjoyed it. I think that because of this blog we became close as a class, therefore it was easier to speak up in class because there was a feeling of comfort. This is the first time i have ever communicated with my classmates on the daily basis, and it was pretty cool. My favorite blog entry was about the class where we had to choose the destiny of our grades. Seeing how everyone reacted differently and had different thoughts about the sunject opened up my eyes to the fact that only 10% of people are on the same page as you. Overall great idea and I think professor should keep blog running for other semesters.

Do i really want more hours?

If they could only add more hours to my busy day
So i can have at least one hour to just drift away
I would make use of it in every way,
Too bad i would end up doing all the things
I do throughout my busy day
More hours will equal more work
So i guess I am good with my 24.7 at work

Im a D...and Proud of It!!!

ok first of all i think that we did not have to spend the entire class time on that one test. It was getting to me that people were taking their sweet time answering their questions. Anyways the test result reveled that i was a D. Just as professor predicted. I think that the test was completely accurate and i already knew the results before even beginning the test. I really dont think people need to take the test to know their management styles. Because really it doesn't matter. People will still use the style they have been comfortable with all their lives and one simple test will not change that. Take me for example, i found out that my management style is a little rough and head on , but im not going to change that for nothing, that what makes me, me.

Management Over Seas...Neeeds Some Work

After My Spring Break in Cancun, Mexico i realized that management in US is that half bad. So my friends an I arrived at 4 pm to Hotel Oaisis. After 2 1/2 hrs in line to check-in, receptionist told us that we are booked for the wrong room and that all inclusive we payed for is not all inclusive and that they have 3 different all inclusive packages. After we asked to speak to a manager we had to wait another hour. After we finally got to the manager we realized he doesnt speak a word of english and it was pointless to explain our problem to him, we agreed upon paying extra to upgrade our room to phase 2 all inclusive which included better restaurant, better rooms, and in fact better alcohol. However since we had to wait 4 hours in line we requested to have some sort of compensation for our suffering, they basically laughed in our faces. five minutes later they told us they ran out of the rooms we requested and they had to put us into crappy room with no locks, and where nothing worked. We agreed to stay there one night only of they give us 30% off on the upgrade, that didnt happened. They finally settled for 20% at that point we were happy with that. After arriving to our room we realized it wasnt cleaned and they asked us to go ahead and have dinner and that our luggagewill be brought up to the room. When we came back there was no sign of our luggage. I ran to the management again and he had no room where our stuff was. No only it took us 4 hours to check in, and get a dirty room now they loose out luggage as well. As we all witnessed my temper is very limited and i went ballistic it took them another 2 hrs to find our stuff.Following day at 5 a.m to be exact we ran downstairs to get our new room. After hours and hours we finally got a new key in new building. When we opened the door we noticed that that room was occupied and we walked in on people changing! I ran back to the front desk to complain and request a new room and a credit for our suffering. The credit was absolutely tuend down but we did get a new room after 3 hours. That room was ok it wasnt the ocean view that was promised but defiantly night and day compared to our first room. Everything was great until the point where AC broke down, now remember it is like 90 degrees outside. We kept calling and calling front desk where we were put on hold for hours and finally gave up. Next day we went to complain and request a new room, nothing happened. So finally i decided to call them and tell them that my one of my roommates is allergic to something in the room and the other one is having asthma attack from no air in the room. What you know the mechanic was up within minutes!!! However they couldn't fix it and i made my roommate pretend she was having asthma attack. After manager finally came up and witnessed that they upgraded us to a better building with pure ocean view, unlimited room service and unlimited drinks in the fridge, and 50%  credit to the package we payed for!!! Motive of the story? management sucked! all they had to do is put us in a normal room from the beginning to save all the trouble, but obviously they didnt want an American dying on them and killing their tourism ( the only income they receive) so they were willing to do anything to accommodate us.

Ultimate Vision

ok first of all who ever directed that video needs to cut down on the word vision. It is absence how many times it was used. I agree with the fact that goals are important , wether you setting goals for finishing school, getting promoted at work or even getting things done around the house, you need goals in order to achieve something. Also by setting goals and completing them gives you a feeling of actually having a productive day, and the feeling is great. My personal goal is to graduate next May and attend Graduate school. Unlike most people at Baruch college im more focused on having a job i love and making enough money for splurging every once in a while. I think you should set goals to be happy with your career and family. and if being filthy rich makes you happy set a goal to be filthy rich

An Unusual Order

First of all let me start out by saying that I used to work for McDonalds. Al thou it has been few years ago, some things just never change. On the day that I decided to perform the extra credit assignment, I ran into McDonald s on my lunch break located on 33rd street and 3rd avenue. For a Saturday it was pretty empty, since there was one cashier and one manager on duty at 4pm I was next in line to order and stood there for about 5 minutes while cashier and manager had a conversation bout the difference between sidekick LX and Sidekick Slide

(I am not kidding!).

After she finally called me over, I was the one to greet her! And I’m not even the one that worked there! Anyways, she asked me what I would like I responded “ a small fries with no salt from the dollar menu and a hamburger with 4 pickles” she responded” we don’t have any of those items on the dollar menu” so I said ok I still want them thou. After that she stressed that the price is going to be more then two dollars without even tax being incorporated. I once again replied that it was fine and that I will take it,) she asked me three time if I wanted to proceed with the order).

This is where things got interesting. From my own experience working in McDonalds I know that costumers such as myself are very annoying and will be made fun of while the costumer is waiting to pick up their order. So after seeing no reaction to four pickles I had requested. I nicely reminded her one more time about the pickles. This time I think it hit her how unusual my order actually was. She walked back to the kitchen and said, “ Make sure that damn hamburger has four pickles” the kitchen responded “ huh? Four? What else does she want on it?” and they began to crack up as if I was deaf.

After I ordered my fries, I stressed no salt part several times; I have received the most annoyed look I have ever seen. I mean no salt really doesn’t require much work. All they have to do is make another batch and pack it in before putting salt on it. It is really not that difficult, the only thing that’s annoying is that the other fries goes to waste if its slow, which it certainly was. Cashier asked me if I would rather have a large fry for the price of the small fries but with salt, she also stresses the fact that my order would be completed much faster if I would just have the salt.

I replied that I am allergic and that I would wait for the small fries. She rolled her eyes and walked over to put the new batch of fries in. She passed me my order I noticed that there were not napkins, so I kindly asked for couple I received ONE I repeat ONE napkin!  As I was walking away the expected occurred, they all laughed!

The entire order process took about 5 minutes. The staff was defiantly un professional. I have never witnessed so much attitude and eye rolling in my life, I defiantly think McDonalds should raise their wages from minimum wage to something more decent, they say smiles are free at McDonalds, well that’s simply not true, because the only smiles I received was derogatory.

As a consultant I would make many recommendations to McDonalds Corp First of all I would start with wages. The only reason why people are so miserable and mean is because they are being paid minimum wage by one of the richest corporation in the world. Besides the fact that they are getting paid less then 250$ a week to full time employees McDonalds does not offer any type of benefits or paid vacations. Second of all they need to take care of their employees in order for employees to reciprocate and return their happiness unto the costumers.

Next McDonalds Corp. Needs to train their managers better. Most of their managers are also completely underpaid and not educated. If you think you need no intelligence to work in McDonalds you are wrong, you actually need to know more then 5th grade algebra.  Employees also should not be weirded out by challenging or unusual orders, because they need to keep in mind that not everyone likes their food prepared the same way. Corporation needs to communicate that fact to employees thought employee’s handbooks, trainee videos and manuals.

Lastly, McDonalds is a fast food restaurant so their biggest concern is to serve the foods fast as humanly possible, while leaving behind costumer the quality of food. Also they tend to shove the words into your mouth when you trying to place an order to save time. When you place in order they automatically assume that you would want coke with you order. Corporation actually in forces that. When I began to work there, my manager told me that when I am taking an order to always assume that the costumer wants coke and to save time, and also because in most cases that would be costumers choice. Also the fact that if costumer is confused about what they want to order McDonalds is missing out on next potential costumer and ordering clock is still ticking and if we mention coke there is a high probability that they will stick with that choice.

In order to change this, McDonalds Corp. Needs to take a deep breath and relax. They need to start with focusing on the quality of their food as well as giving employees a little more time then 20 seconds to take the order, process it, and have the costumers on their way.  It might slow down the process, but if the costumer is already there to place the order there is a high chance that they will wait and be happier in the end, which will cause them to return. So in the long run McDonalds will benefit if they take time taking their orders and completing them to costumers request instead of trying give them something else in order to process the order at the speed of light.

Utilitarian Decision is the Best Decision.

First of all i would like to thank everyone that agreed on dropping the lowest grade and curving the last test grade, your vote didnt only help you , but also helped  all your classmates. Now as far as what happened in the class. First of all, I did not like the fact that some people nominated themselves as leaders and just got up front of the class,  we were able to finish the exercise but people that were put in charge were completely un qualified , no offense. Second of all I do believe that if everyone that benefits from the decision being made, people that disagree should just go along with it. I made me really upset when only one, i repeat only one person did not agree with the decision the entire class agreed upon. I think it was a very selfish act. It is good to have a mind of your own, but if you are pressured with time, you just ned to go along with everyone else's opinion, especially if you are the only one that disagrees and have no real reason for not agreeing. however i do have respect for to guys in the back row for not agreeing with our decision however they still voted in favor for it. you guys had your reason, and it in fact made since and i would like to thank you for still giving us your vote.  I think i didnt handle the situation to the best ability, just because that one vote short got me really heated, i understand as a manager you need to be able to keep you feeling to yourself, and hold yourself together, i failed
